Amelia (from Greek ἀ- “lack of” plus μέλος (plural: μέλεα or μέλη) “limb”) is the birth defect of lacking one or more limbs. It can also result in a shrunken or deformed limb.

Naming this photo led me to an idea for a new series of pictures. I want to explore strange ailments, deformities, and birth defects through images. Not necessarily photographing the people who have them, but creating them through illusion, feeling, or symbolism. Like how in this photo I have created the illusion that she is missing an arm, and that her one arm is deformed.

To  be called: “Defective” or “Defective DNA”
